God Bless America Sunday

Join us on Sunday, July 5th, as we celebrate the Godly heritage of America.  Let us remember and proclaim that this nation was established as a Christian nation, as one nation under God.

We invite you to wear patriotic colors and for all military personnel to come in uniform.  We will honor all those who have served in the arm forces and remember the sacrifices made by so many, to maintain our freedom.

Following the worship service, we will have an old fashioned dinner on the ground (actually in the air conditioned Fellowship Hall).   We ask you to bring a covered dish, and enjoy great food and fellowship.  Home made ice-cream, desserts, strawberry shortcake, I can’t wait.

Then the fun begins!  After dinner, we will have a challenge basketball game, the church staff against your team.  Are you a basketball player, this is your chance to show your skills and compete against the best (Church Staff).  LaBron Clymer has guaranteed a win for the Staff.  Meadowlark Dougherty was seen working on his jump shot, and singing, “can’t touch this”.  If you are willing to challenge the staff, or would like to be a team Captain,    please contact Pastor John.  Tickets are now on sale for the event (free).  Don’t miss this great time of fun.  Please feel free to dress casual and spend the afternoon with us.  No services on Sunday evening, July 5th.

Building Update

New Beginnings

One year ago, on Mother’s Day 2008, our lives were interrupted and our church was drastically changed. During the early morning hours of that Sunday, a tornado devastated much of Macon, and did substantial damage to our church. We were all in shock as we arrived, to find a portion of the roof missing, the front wall of the foyer caved in, and gaping holes in the roof of our educational building. Certainly, the damage seemed overwhelming.

During the Spring of 2008, the future for Parkway seemed full of promise. Attendance was up significantly, and was continuing to increase with each month. We were busy making plans for new ministries and new efforts at evangelism. Suddenly, without warning, all of our plans seemed to be derailed. We can say like the Apostle Paul, that Satan has tried to hinder us at every turn.

However, we can also say that we are more than conquerors through Christ who has given us strength. What Satan had intended for evil, God has turned it and caused it to work for our good. God has given us a beautiful new sanctuary and has greatly enhanced our facilities. New opportunities for ministry will now be greater than ever before.   Let us celebrate as we reflect on how far God has brought us during the past year. We can truly say "Hitherto hath the Lord helped us".

VIDEO UPDATES

On Sunday morning, May 11th, the tornado, which devastated much of Macon, struck our main building.  The damage to the front of the building and the foyer was extensive.  The front wall collapsed, causing a section of the roof to fall as well.  Obviously, we were unable to hold our morning services as planned.

However, there is much to be thankful for.  First, the sanctuary itself suffered very little damage.  Second, the new Family Life Center suffered minor damage to the roof.  Third, so many people have offered to help and to pray for us, and for this we are grateful.

God has been doing awesome things in our church family over the past few months, and we are confident that he will continue to bless us, and to give us victory in every situation.  I know that God will take what looks so bad, and he will cause it to work for our ultimate good.

We ask you to please join us this Sunday for a celebration of God’s goodness, as we look forward with hope to the great victories ahead.  Thank you for your continued prayers.

Pastor Joe E. Williams, Jr.
